Will we be able to discuss the shoot beforehand?
Yes of course, we can discuss what your after, what roles you go for, playing age, general look etc. so I can best get a sense of what your after.

Do you shoot in colour or Black and White?
I love colour photographs, it seems to be the standard in America, but not over here in the UK. So I shoot in colour and make them make black and white versions, both of which I will provide you with so you can choose what you want to use.

How long will the shoot take?
Generally 1-2 hours, everyone is different, if you have a particular look you want to push that’s great, the clearer you are about what roles you want the better.

How many pictures will you take?
Loads, but we’ll chop it down, and you’ll end up with a selection of about 30 pics.

Will we be shooting inside or outside?
We can do some outside in natural light, which is often more flattering and closer to what you look like and also indoors using lights.

What should I bring?
A couple of outfit changes, bring something that reflects you, so it suggests a part without "wearing it" (if that makes sense) so you look neutral. Pick clothes with no patterns on it, solid colours, colours that compliment your skintone, hair colour. I would possibly avoid white tops, they tend to be a bit insipid and don't add any tone to your face, bring one anyway. Watch the neck- crew cut or v neck, if you have a long neck a V neck makes it longer. If you want to bring your own makeup, keep it to a minimum, basic stuff.

How should I wear my hair?
If you blessed to have long hair, or indeed any hair at all, as a general rule I would wear it down as it frames your face better then having your hair up, as that has potential to stretch your face and not make it look natural. Saying this, everyone is different and we can try different things depending on how you look.

Can I bring music? It makes me feel energised and brings the best out in me
I LOVE music, and have eclectic tastes. Im an uber fan of Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson and The Rolling Stones. (If you have a problem with this, take it up with me on the shoot). But please feel free to bring whatever you feel like bringing that you’re comfortable with that you think is gonna get the best out of you on an iPod, I also have Spotify, cos I’m hip like that.

Sucks to be you. No you don’t, you think you don’t like being photographed, but you do. That’s possibly why you’re in this industry, and if you want to work in this industry you’d better get used to having a camera pointed in your face.

So, we’ve done the shoot, what happens now?
We’ll have a sort through the pictures and narrow it down to your best 30 shots to finish off with. These will be rebalanced and provided in Hi res (for printing) and Low res (for uploading) versions. 2 pictures of your choice I will retouch to use as your main shots.

Retouching, that sounds scary, I don’t want any extra heads
No, no extra heads, just a rebalancing of the colours, get rid of blemishes, smoothen out your skin, subtle natural retouching that won’t look heavily photoshopped, just to make you look extra swanky. Here’s a few examples of some retouching.

How much does retouching on extra pictures cost?
Extra retouching @ £25 / picture.

Can you make me look like Kate Moss?
Only if you look like or in fact are Kate Moss. I can photoshop Kate Moss’s head on to your body if you like, it’ll look bloody weird and we’ll all get a laugh out of it, but I wouldn’t advise it to be honest for your headshot.

What about Angelina Jolie?
Yes, I can photoshop Angelina Jolie’s head onto your body.

I want to print off my headshots so I can send them to agents
A sterling plan, I can put them up on my Photobox gallery and you can order your 8x10” prints from there.

Do you know anything about social media and promoting yourself online? Someone told me to sign up on MyFaceBook and I’m all in a Twatter about Casting YouCall Tube, and the interweb hates me….
The interweb hates you because you’ve referred to it as ‘The Interweb’. I can send you a PDF I’ve put together of how to market yourself virally .

How can I book a session?

How can I pay you?
You can pay with cash, cheque or whack it in my bank account using the interweb (BACS). I can give you an invoice for your records and half of the agreed amount is to be paid upfront.

Can I pay with Magic Beans?
Magic Beans are not being accepted at this time, but should their monetary value increase in the future (not completely beyond the realms of reality given the current economic climate) I may consider it.

Do you do shoots for other performers- musicians, comedians etc?
Yes I do, get in touch to discuss what you are after.
